Dear League Members – Kent Skidmore and I met this morning with the General Manager from Big League Dreams (BLD) about the prospect of shifting our games to their facility. As with all of the potential fields in our immediate area, hiring maintenance people is the biggest issue facing BLD. They, like these other fields, do not have the staff to drag and prep the fields for our use. Our people are not allowed to do the work because of Liability issues. The MSSL has been in an unique situation at Wheatfield because they have a full-time maintenance person that can do the field prep in the morning.
We do have another meeting scheduled with BLD on July 5. At that time they will let us know, if they can accommodate MSSL for our Fall and Spring seasons and what the cost would be.
For the remaining Spring schedule (5 weeks) we will continue to play at Wheatfield, on Fields 2 & 3. There may be a few of you not comfortable playing at Wheatfield and we understand that playing or not playing is an individual decision much like it was for COVID-19. When you are comfortable playing again, we will welcome your participation.
Members of the league are working with Wheatfield and you will see continuing effort to improve the fields. Thank you for your patience. I’ll see you next week at Wheatfield.
